Edwin Encarnacion has become a fixture in the middle of the lineup for the Toronto Blue Jays. Recognized for his hard work and dedication to the game, he was awarded the Blue Jays Heart and Hustle Award after the 2012 campaign. Early in his career, he was featured as an elite prospect while participating in three consecutive MLB All-Star Future Games.
After spending his first four seasons with the Cincinnati Reds, Edwin was acquired by the Toronto Blue Jays in 2009. He enjoyed a breakout 2012 season where he finished fourth overall in Major League Baseball with 42 home runs and third overall with 110 Runs Batted In.
Edwin followed up his strong 2012 campaign with an equally impressive 2013 campaign, finishing the season with 36 home runs and 104 Runs Batted In, earning his first All-Star selection and second consecutive Blue Jays Player of the Year Award.
During the 2014 season, Edwin set a franchise record and tied Mickey Mantle for the American League record for most home runs in the month of May with 16, earning AL Player of the Month honors.
